Ready to rouse the masses à la Winston Churchill? There’s hope yet.
Bainbridge offers two monthly gatherings for aspiring orators; stop by the U Speak Easy Toastmasters open house from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 to check one out.
The open house will take place at the club’s usual meeting place, the community room at the Winslow Arms Apartments, 220 Parfitt Way. Members and guests will enjoy a regular Toastmasters meeting, which includes prepared speeches, Table Topics (impromptu speeches) and evaluations.
Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills. Established in 1924, the organization consists of 313,000 members in more than 14,650 clubs in 126 countries.
The island’s local chapters, Bainbridge Island Toastmasters and U Speak Easy Toastmasters, meet twice a month: BI Toastmasters, at noon on the first and third Thursday of every month, and U Speak Easy, at 7:15 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday.
