After months of controversy and a lawsuit over a decision associated with the project, the city will hold a public forum on Island Gateway on Feb. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The forum will act as an informational session where citizens can learn the process by which decisions were made concerning the project.

During the forum, an overview of the city’s permit process, an introduction to the project and a question-and-answer session will be held.

Citizens can submit questions to the city by contacting interim City Manager Lee Walton at CityAdmin@ci.bainbridge-isl.wa.us. City officials request that questions be submitted by Feb. 1.

Citizens have been passionate in their views of support and opposition to the project. At meetings concerning the right-of-way vacation, a decision which was brought into a lawsuit late last year by the group Friends of Bainbridge Island, people commented both for and against the general project.

Detractors of the project have raised questions about the design of the project, the public process, the right-of-way vacation the City Council passed in October and the proximity to Winslow Ravine.

In addition to the forum, the developers on the project will host a walk through of the project Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
