Service on the Bainbridge Island-Seattle ferry run was cut back Wednesday morning following the removal of the ferry M/V Puyallup from the route.

Service on the Bainbridge Island-Seattle ferry run was cut back Wednesday morning following the removal of the ferry M/V Puyallup from the route.

Washington State Ferries announced just before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday that the ferry was being pulled from service for repairs.

The loss of the Puyallup prompted the cancellation of the 5:20 a.m. sailing from Bainbridge and the 6:10 a.m. sailing from Seattle.

Two-boat capacity was restored on the route by the shift of the M/V Issaquah to the route.

The run is operating on reduced capacity; the Issaquah can carry 124 cars, while the Puyallup can carry 202 vehicles.

WSF is advising travelers to consider using the Edmonds-Kingston run as an alternate route.
