Bainbridge school board members to take the oath of office at next meeting

The four candidates elected to the Bainbridge Island School Board in the November’s General Election will take their oath of office at the next school board meeting.

The newest member of the school board is Sanjay Pal, who ran unopposed for the District 3 director’s seat. Incumbent Director Mev Hoberg, who is currently board president and a member of the board since April 2012, did not seek another term.

Two new appointees to the board will also be sworn in after winning their races for director positions.

Christina Hulet finished in front for the District 4 position on the board in a race against challenger Andrew Ewing this November. Hulet was appointed to the seat in November 2018 and won in a landslide against Ewing.

Mark D. Emerson, who was appointed in May, ran unopposed for the District 5 seat on the school board.

The four board members will be sworn-in at the next board meeting, at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 at Bainbridge Island Fire Department’s Station 21 on Madison Avenue NE. Board meetings have been shifted to the Madison station due to the renovation of the Bainbridge High 100 Building.
