The Bainbridge Island Police Department will be accepting unwanted prescription medications for disposal at a special event later this month.

As part of the Drug Enforcement Agency’s nationwide “Drug Take-Back Initiative,” officers will collect prescription medications between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at the police station on Winslow Way. Residents are encouraged to bring unwanted prescription medications for proper disposal.

Citizens who miss the event should not not dispose of medications in the trash, by flushing, or through any other means. Instead, residents should simply hold onto such medications until the next take-back event is scheduled, likely in October.
