Bainbridge police reported the following incidents:

OCTOBER 16

10:03 a.m. An officer observed a Mercedes Benz with expired tabs driving southbound across Agate Pass bridge. The driver also appeared to be talking on her cell phone handset. The car was pulled over. Its driver, a Bremerton woman, denied talking on her cell phone. She was unable to provide proof of insurance and a records check showed her license was suspended. The woman was cited.

8:46 p.m. A woman reported being harassed by another driver while motoring eastbound on Winslow Way. The woman said a red Chrysler Crossfire had braked to let her pass through the four-way intersection at Madison Avenue. She had been conversing with her husband and said it was possible she entered the intersection out of turn. The Chrysler had subsequently changed direction and followed her down Winslow Way. When the woman stopped at the ferry terminal to drop off her husband, she said the Chrysler blocked her in. Its driver rolled down the passenger window and began berating her, using expletives and vulgarities. The woman told police that she had seen people get angry, but this man was “crazy angry.” She said his face literally turned purple as he yelled and veins on his forehead were standing out. The woman’s husband walked over to the man’s car and asked him if he had a bad day. The woman told him that she had his license plate number and would be reporting him. The man replied that he had her license number and would also make a report. The woman gave police the Chrysler’s license number. The investigation continues.

10:46 p.m. An officer responded to High School Road and Madison Avenue where a red truck was reportedly towing skateboarders on the road. Police had contacted several juveniles engaged in similar activity with a red truck several weeks before. The responding officer waited on High School Road and soon spotted two juveniles riding longboards at approximately 20 mph westbound. Neither was wearing a helmet, reflective equipment or lights. The duo turned onto Lovell Avenue and began zigzagging across the roadway. The officer activated the emergency lights on his patrol car and contacted the youths. They were recognized as the same juveniles that had been contacted previously. They told the officer that they only skateboard on roads with light traffic, and that “others” skateboard in the same way. The officer advised that they could be arrested for reckless endangerment and that if the red truck was seen pulling skateboards, its driver could be arrested and the truck impounded. The juveniles given a civil infraction for negligent operation of skateboards. The case was forwarded to prosecutors.

OCTOBER 17

9:32 a.m. The Sportsmen’s Club clubhouse was the victim of an overnight burglary. It appeared that a side door to the clubhouse had been forced open with a crow bar-type tool, which had dislodged the door jamb from the door frame. A padlock securing a utility closet inside had also been cut. Nothing was discovered missing or out of place at the club. No suspects.

11:13 a.m. Sons of a deceased Wing Point Way resident alerted police that a firearm was missing from a safe in the home. The gun had last been seen in August 2007, and the sons were unsure whether it had been lost or stolen since then. The sons were concerned about liability. The case was recorded.

11:58 a.m. Bainbridge Police helped Bremerton Police locate an island man and his 4-year-old son. The son’s mother was concerned about the father’s mental state, and his ability to care for the child. Police contacted the man at an island assisted living center. He agreed to turn over his son to the mother. He was interviewed by Bremerton detectives and released.

OCTOBER 19

1:02 a.m. Police contacted occupants of a car parked partially in the roadway by the public works facility on Hidden Cove Road. Its driver, a Bremerton woman, told an officer that she was a housecleaner and had brought the car’s passenger to Bainbridge so she could see a house she works at. Neither could provide a driver’s license. The passenger volunteered an I.D. card and a records check showed he had an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license in Port Orchard. He was arrested. At Kitsap County Jail, a search of the man’s person revealed a plastic bag containing crystal methamphetamine. “Ohh man” the suspect said, when the bag was discovered. The man admitted that the drugs were his, and said he had forgotten to ditch the bag while the officers were talking to the driver. The man was booked on a possession charge. The methamphetamine was placed in evidence.

9:25 a.m. One pane of a storm window at a Madison Avenue business was discovered broken. A 5-inch-diameter rock was found inside comparable to the hole in the window was found inside. It did not appear that the rock thrower had gained entry to the building. Damage was estimated at $500. No suspects.

5:29 p.m. A wool Stetson hat was reported stolen from the Aquatic Center locker room. A Bainbridge man said he had left the hat atop a locker while he was in the pool and had returned to find it missing. The hat was valued at $50.

OCTOBER 20

1:12 a.m. An officer pulled over a Toyota stationwagon after observing it drive several hundred yards northbound on SR-305 with its passenger-side wheels outside the white fogline. Its driver, a Poulsbo woman smelled of alcohol and appeared intoxicated, but said she had only drunk one glass of wine after work. She was arrested for driving under the influence following field sobriety tests. A search of her person revealed 2.5 grams of marijuana tucked inside a pocket of her work apron. The woman was booked into Kitsap County Jail for drug posession.
