Bainbridge motorcyclist airlifted after collision with deer

A 45-year-old Bainbridge Island man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Saturday after his motorcycle hit a deer while he was riding north of Highway 3 near Silverdale.

A 45-year-old Bainbridge Island man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Saturday after his motorcycle hit a deer while he was riding north of Highway 3 near Silverdale.

According to the State Patrol, Sergio D. Carratturo was on a 2015 Ducati Monster 821 and was about a mile north of Silverdale when a deer jumped from the median in front of his motorcycle.

The rider hit the deer and then slid into the next lane.

The collision happened at about 10 a.m. July 2.

Carratturo was hurt and transported by a medivac flight to the hospital.

The motorcycle was totaled.
