Bainbridge man airlifted Monday evening following road-rage incident | UPDATED

Bainbridge Police arrested a 58-year-old man for assault Tuesday morning, following a Monday evening road-rage incident that left another man hospitalized.

The incident occurred after 8 p.m. in the 6300 block of Eagle Harbor Drive, prompted by an apparent dispute over aggressive driving.

According to BIPD Lt. Sue Shultz, witnesses told police that two male drivers pulled to the side of the road and began to argue. The two drivers, both Bainbridge men according to police, then got into a physical fight.

When officers arrived on the scene they found the victim partially off the road and unconscious. The 38-year-old male was airlifted to Harborview Hospital with a serious head injury.

“We get a lot of calls about aggressive driving, vehicles either passing inappropriately or too fast or too closely, but that doesn’t amount to road rage, they aren’t usually physical altercations,” Shultz said.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident they are encourage to contact the Bainbridge Island Police Department at 842-5211.
