Bainbridge Island parks accepts trail easements

At a recent meeting of the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District, senior planner Perry Barrett recommended the acceptance of a trail easement in Winslow, donated by the owners of the Moritani property and Leslie Landing Homeowners Association.

The two contiguous tracks are only about 8 feet wide, but they serve as a key connection between Shepard Way and Wyatt Way, an important trail connection for Winslow. Park officials say the connection will enhance the walkability by adding a permanent trail through the neighborhoods. It was also anticipated the noted in the resolution of the donation that funds totaling approximately $7,000 were also included in the deal to be used toward the removal of hazardous trees and trail maintenance.

In the future, the Bainbridge Parks Foundation will also host a financial contribution for trails improvements.
