Town hall
A nonpartisan town hall rally for democracy will be held June 7, from Noon-2:30 p.m. at Lynwood Theatre.
The event features local public officials such as Rep. Emily Randall, state Rep. Greg Nance, Bainbridge Island Mayor Ashley Mathews, Paul Assendorf representing federal workers, plus artists and nonprofit leaders. They will address what their organizations are doing to support our community and what steps they need from us to support democracy, per a news release.

Juneteenth celebration
All are invited to participate in Bainbridge Island’s Juneteenth kickoff event June 13 from 5-8 p.m. at Town Square and Bainbridge Performing Arts, right outside of City Hall.
The kickoff event will include: education about Juneteenth and BI’s history of resistance to racism and hate, sign-making and art supplies; music, dancing, art and food
On June 14, you can bring your signs to the Kitsap Juneteenth event on the steps of the Norm Dicks Government Center in Bremerton at 10 a.m. and march with greater Kitsap folks to Evergreen Rotary Park for the 23rd Juneteenth Celebration.
Weed Warriors’ events
Weed Warriors will be digging up perennial pepperweed at Strawberry Plant Park June 2 from 2-4 p.m. Bring digging tools and gloves if you’d like to participate.
Additionally, Weed Warriors are going back to the Bloedel Reserve June 22 from 1-3 p.m. to yank out more ivy.

Park at the staff parking lot at 7766 N.E. West Port Madison Road, which is the second roundabout from Winslow. Bring gloves and clippers, bring water and dress for the weather, a news release states.
Tire collection
Kitsap County Solid Waste Division will host a free tire collection event for residents June 9 and 10, from 2 to 6 p.m. each day at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds’ Thunderbird Arena, 1275 Fairgrounds Road NW.
Households can bring up to 15 tires, including those from passenger vehicles, light trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, lawn mowers and wheelbarrows. Tires may be on or off rims. No tractor or commercial vehicle tires will be accepted.
This event is free to the public and is funded by the state Department of Ecology’s Waste Tire Program, which provided short-term funding in late April. The Kitsap Fair and Stampede Association donated the venue space.
