Black History
Bainbridge Island Museum of Art has two events this weekend to celebrate Black History Month.
The Black History Month Soiree will take place from 6-10 p.m. Feb. 22. It will include music, dancing, art and vendors. All are welcome for the free event, but donations are requested.
On Feb. 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. there will be Cultural Couture: Fashion Meets Identity. The event empowers attendees to dress professionally while embracing their unique personalities and cultural backgrounds. The event includes mimosas, a panel discussion, a fashion show and prizes.
Homeless housing
Kitsap County is seeking community input to develop a five-year housing plan for the homeless.
The goal is to make homelessness a rare, brief and one-time occurrence in Kitsap with a homeless response system.
“This planning process will help us identify gaps in our current system and develop targeted strategies to better serve our community’s most vulnerable members,” said Housing and Homelessness Program manager Carl Borg.
Volunteers will meet up to eight times before April to help develop survey questions and identify key areas of concern.
To volunteer, email Borg at ceborg@kitsap.gov
