Fish passage updates

The contractor for the Eagle Harbor Drive fish passage project continued work this week, pouring the concrete barricades for the box culvert bridge. Without any major setbacks (such as severe weather or equipment failure), the road will open in two phases:

By Oct. 6: At least one lane will open to traffic with flagging. The city is hopeful both lanes will open during evening hours.

By Oct. 9: Both lanes are expected to open with daytime flagging continuing to support finishing work on the culvert and new water line work beginning.

As traffic patterns stabilize, detour components such as the temporary signal at Fletcher Bay Road will be phased out. The water line replacement improvement was originally planned to occur alongside the culvert work. Unfortunately, longer-than-expected federal funding reviews and a complex bidding process delayed the project, per a city news release. The new water line will replace an older system in preparation for the remainder of non-motorized improvements for Eagle Harbor Drive.

Water tank mural

Painting for the Winslow water tank’s mural began last week and is almost complete.

The new water tank will boost fire flow and enhance water quality for the Winslow system, per a city newsletter. To ensure these upgrades are safe and reliable, crews are adding new water lines and pressure-reducing stations, including a new line under Highway 305 at Madison Avenue, to keep household water pressure steady, protect your appliances from the stronger flow and improve water quality.
