Bainbridge High School’s new 200 Building has received aCivic Design Award from the American Institute of Architects Washington Council.
The 70,000 square-foot wing, designed by Mahlum Architects of Seattle and opened in January, was one of eight buildings in the state honored by the council at a ceremony May 14.
A three-member jury commended the 200 Building for its use of open and transparent spaces, environmentally friendly features and focus on community engagement.
“Celebration of student achievement within the larger landscape of community, both through education and exhibition, is embedded in the design of the Bainbridge High School 200 Building,” AIA wrote in its review of the design.
