The 17th annual Bainbridge Island Volunteer Firefighters Association pancake breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 12 at the department headquarters at Station 21 (8895 Madison Ave. Northeast).

Along with a delicious breakfast, guests can also enjoy free firetruck rides, station house tours and the chance to mingle with men and women who work hard to keep the community safe every day.

Fire engine rides and tours are free, and the cost of the breakfast is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors over 62, and free for kids under 5.

At last year’s breakfast, approximately 1,500 firefighters of all ages went for a ride on the fire trucks and the fundraiser brought in $7,600.

The funds are used to support community outreach programs and to pay for equipment purchases for the fire department.
