Bainbridge fire department looks for help on Voter Pamphlet Statement Committees

The Bainbridge Island Fire Department is looking for volunteers who would like to serve on the committees that will write statements for the February voters pamphlet on the department's two ballot measures.

The Bainbridge Island Fire Department is looking for volunteers who would like to serve on the committees that will write statements for the February voters pamphlet on the department’s two ballot measures.

The fire department is seeking a five-year, 95 cent property tax levy that would start in 2016, as well as a $16 million bond measure to pay for rebuilding, remodeling and equipping fire stations.

The fire department is accepting names of people interested in participating on the voter pamphlet statement committees.

The committees will have up to three members each.

One committee will write the statement for approval of the proposition, while the other will write the statement for rejection of the proposition.

Citizens interested in participating can call Ed Kaufman at 206-451-2037 by Dec. 26.

Statements must be completed and submitted to the Kitsap County Elections Division by Dec. 31.
