Wednesday, June 18

9:37 a.m. A Bainbridge Island Park District employee reported that someone had vandalized several park district vehicles, street signs and a mobile stage.

Four vehicles had been tagged with permanent marker. The letters “MC” were written on the side of the vehicles. Additional tagging was found on signs and offensive words were written on a portable stage.

The district estimated it would cost $1,200 to repair the damage.

Wednesday, June 25

12:24 p.m. Someone clipped the stalk of several green bean plants at Johnson Farm. A citizen who tends the garden area where the green beans were, told police that the stalks looked to have been cut with a sharp object like scissors.

The clipping caused the plants to die. The damage was estimated at $50.

5 p.m. Officers were called to humanely dispatch a deer with two severely broken front legs. The deer had apparently been hit by a car.

Thursday, June 26

8:28 a.m. The city’s code enforcement officer contacted a Bainbridge resident after three trees were discovered cut down on her property.

The city advised her that since the trees were in a slide area it was considered a critical zone.

In addition, cutting the trees could result in felony-level charges since they often require a geological survey and three trees to be planted for each one cut down.

The woman had recently moved out of the house but is renting out the property. She told police the trees had been cut without her permission, but a nearby neighbor has been urging her to cut the trees since April to open the view. Now that she no longer lives at the house, the resident told police that it is suspicious that they have been cut.

Officers contacted the neighbor and she denied any knowledge of the tree cutting.
