Bainbridge blotter | Whispering Allyssa

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

SATURDAY, FEB. 18

11:31 p.m. Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at Blakely Elementary.

A woman had called to report people yelling inside and lights being turned on and also vehicles in the parking lot. The woman also said the people inside were posting pictures on social media sites of the party they were having inside the school building. She said she recognized the people in the photos, but did not know their names.

Two officers arrived, parked nearby and walked to the school. They saw no vehicles outside and only “normal hallways lights” were on. There was one door that was not properly latched, but an inspection of the interior of the building showed no signs of disturbance or burglary.

When police called the woman who made the report, she acted very strangely, speaking in a barely audible whisper and identifying herself only as “Allyssa.” She then insisted police had the wrong number. After verifying the number was correct, police called the woman again, but she again told them they had the wrong number, this time in a normal voice.

All the other schools on the island were checked and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered.
