Bainbridge blotter | Test-drive trouble

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

SATURDAY, JULY 7

10:39 a.m. A 70-year-old Spokane man drove a 1995 MG Roadster, belonging to a Bainbridge Island man, off the road while test driving the vehicle, deciding if he’d like to purchase it.

The car was traveling north on Manitou Beach Road onto North Madison Avenue, came upon stopped traffic, and the driver could not find the brake pedal so he swerved to the right to avoid a collision.

The car went off the road and slid down an embankment, coming to rest of its right side in a heavy copse of blackberry bushes.

The owner arranged to have the vehicle towed away.

There were no injuries.
