THURSDAY, DEC. 10

8:13 a.m. A homeowner in the 8000 block of Fletcher Bay Road looked out his bedroom window to discover an elderly man who appeared to have gotten his vehicle stuck in his yard.

The resident went out and talked to the man, a 94-year-old Bainbridge resident, who appeared to be disoriented.

The man was unsure about where he was and what had happened. The man had a small cut above his right eye and dried blood was on his face. He said he was unsure how he got his vehicle where it was, and said he had spent the night in his 1999 Toyota Camry.

He believed he had gotten stuck sometime the previous afternoon; the homeowner said that was possible because he would have not seen the vehicle in the late afternoon darkness the day before.

It appeared that the man drove his vehicle into the driveway, then went around some trees where he lost traction on the wet grass. When he tried to back up, he hit a wood fence, and when he tried to move forward, he became stuck in the mud.

The driver was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

3:51 p.m. Police received a report of a driver going past a school bus that had its flashing red lights on and its “stop” paddle out near Sunrise Place.

Police contacted the driver, 48, who said he did a rolling stop by the bus. He said he had to go to the bathroom very badly.

Police thanked him for being honest and said he would be getting a citation.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 9

8:07 p.m. A 20-year-old Kingston man in a 1998 Ford Taurus was heading east on Day Road and went through the red light at Highway 305 and struck a southbound 1993 Mazda with a 26-year-old Bainbridge man behind the wheel.

The first driver said his windows were fogged and he couldn’t see clearly, but he thought the light was green.

A Bainbridge officer was at a traffic stop just north of Day Road and saw the vehicle enter the intersection against a red light.

The first vehicle was towed from the scene and had damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle. The second vehicle had front-end damage, but was not towed.

The Kingston man was cited for failure to stop and driving with a suspended license.
