4:24 p.m. A business on Winslow Way reported a theft. A manager at the store said she was in the back doing interviews and was told a large group of women came into the store and possibly stole some items.

The missing things included a large gray tumbled faux leather purse with black-and-white geometric-print patterned clutch, along with two Lysse tops, and another brand-name top.

The items were valued at $316.

10:54 a.m. Police were called to a dispute between a father and his 18-year-old son.

The teen said he was supposed to go to his mother’s house near Seattle to work on a high school project, but his father woke him up about 9 a.m. by pouring water on his head.

He said he was up late the previous night at a party and was still in bed when his father came in.

They argued and the teen said his father pushed him. He said his father then got a bigger pail of water and threw it on him.

He also said their relationship had been rocky recently. He said his father had accused him of making a credit card purchase and stealing a check, which the teen denied.

The teen said the pair began to push each other and said his father pushed him out of the house, locked the door and called police.

The youth said he just wanted to get some clothes and his phone so he could go to Seattle and stay with his mother.

Police also talked to the father, 57, who said they had been on shaky terms over the past few weeks because his son was skipping classes and not doing well in school. He said his son was supposed to be on an early ferry and, after he could not rouse him out of bed, he got a bucket of water to wake him up.

Police determined neither person was the primary aggressor and neither had tried to harm the other. Police escorted the teen back into the house so he could get his clothes, his computer and phone.

His father gave him $10 for the ferry and police gave him a ride to the terminal.

9:27 p.m. Police were called to the Safeway after a shoplifter had been taken into custody. The man, a 22-year-old Bainbridge resident, apologized and said it was wrong for him to steal. He had taken some Robitussin and cough drops, which he said he wanted to consume to get a buzz.

Police suggested the man had probably shoplifted before but not been caught, and he agreed.

He was issued a citation for third-degree theft and released.
