Tuesday, Jan. 17

3:59 p.m. An 86-year-old Bainbridge Island man fell asleep at the wheel while traveling along Komedal Road and swerved into a tree in the front yard of a private residence.

There were no injuries.

Friday, Jan. 13

9:02 a.m. Police responded to a report of vandalism at a construction site at the Coppertop Business Park.

Sometime in the night an unknown person had shattered the front windshield of one of the excavators, site personnel reported. The damage was estimated at about $500.

Entrance, however, was apparently not gained to the vehicle.

Previously, it was reported that an unknown person had damaged the ignition on a plate compactor, apparently with a screwdriver. The damage estimate was $100.
