Saturday, Feb. 16
1:02 p.m. A resident on Shepard Way reported an unauthorized charge to her bank account. The charge for $240.15 went to DISCOUNTASP.NET. She cancelled her debit card.
4:40 p.m. The Rite Aid on High School Road called police after they apprehended a shoplifter. A man had taken headphones out of its packaging and stuffed them in his jacket. The man told police that he could pay for the headphones and that he couldn’t explain why he attempted to steal them. The man paid for the headphones and was given a no-trespass notice from the drug store.
Sunday, Feb. 17
4:50 a.m. A woman living on Soundview Drive called police as her intoxicated boyfriend was pounding on her door and windows. The couple had an argument earlier that night, while drinking, about how the boyfriend wasn’t doing anything with his life. Once she called police, the boyfriend left.
12:44 p.m. A driver in a pickup truck reported that he and a motorcyclist were engaged in a road-rage encounter on Highway 305. The incident began in Poulsbo when the truck passed the motorcycle. According to the biker, the truck cut him off abruptly. This “pissed him off” so he passed the truck and slowed down in front of it. The biker said as he passed the truck the driver shared an inappropriate hand gesture.
The truck driver said that after he passed the biker, he tailgated the truck. The biker then passed the truck and made “aggressive hand gestures” at the driver. The driver then returned the gesture. The truck driver alleged that the biker then punched his side mirror, cracking it. The biker then drove in front of the truck and slammed on his brakes almost coming to a stop, causing the truck to brake, almost hitting the biker. As the two traveled onto the island the truck driver called 911. Police inspected the mirror and saw a crack, but noted that it was old, with dirt and watermarks in it. The driver said that it wasn’t that big before. The biker and driver agreed to go on their ways, safely, and boarded the ferry.
