THURSDAY, SEPT. 24

4:20 p.m. A 59-year-old Bainbridge Island man in a 1991 Honda Civic was rounding a curve on Baker Hill Road when he saw a deer in the road and tried to steer clear. He lost control and went into the ditch.

The man’s car was towed from the scene.

4:36 p.m. A 22-year-old Keyport man in a 1994 Honda Civic was stopped for speeding on Peterson Hill Road NE.

Police clocked the man on radar; he was going 58 in a 25 mph zone.

The driver said one of his front brake calipers was bad and he was unable to slow down while coming down the hill.

The officer said it sounded like the Honda’s engine was accelerating as the vehicle was coming down the hill, however.

The man had a warrant for $5,000 for driving with a suspended license, third degree. He was also suspended in the third degree for an unpaid ticket.

The officer was on a motorcycle and was unable to take him into custody.

He was mailed a citation for driving with a suspended license, speeding and no proof of insurance.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 22

12:25 p.m. A 67-year-old Bainbridge man said he discovered his 205 Audi Allroad had been keyed on the passenger side of the vehicle from the front to the rear of the car.

The man discovered the vandalism after leaving a church meeting.
