WEDNESDAY, JULY 15

5:18 p.m. A 65-year-old man called police to report the theft of a “No Trespassing” sign from his Murden Cove residence.

The man said he had first put up the sign after he was the victim of malicious mischief and trespassing on June 22.

During that incident, a person came on his property and cut off the top of a tree.

He said there was no benefit to anyone other than his neighbor, who had claimed the tree was obstructing a waterfront view.

The homeowner was advised by police to put up a “No Trespassing” sign in his yard to prevent another incident of trespassing.

He did so, and he then discovered the sign missing last week.

He said he believed his neighbor took the sign, and told police that when he confronted the neighbor about the tree on the prior occasion, the neighbor denied any involvement — but then invited him in to show him how much better the view was now that the tree had been cut.

The man said he was not very concerned about the situation, but wanted it all documented in case there were additional problems down the road.
