Bainbridge blotter | Hong Kong calling

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

MONDAY, MARCH 2

1 p.m. An 82-year-old Bainbridge woman called police to report an attempted scam.

She said a man called from Hong Kong claiming to be a Comcast representative, and asked her to send a check for $200 to an address in China.

The man, who said his name was Tsung Shu-Rou, told the woman her Comcast services would be disrupted for six days, however, she would then be reimbursed for the $200 after they were turned back on.

The woman told him her checking account numbers, then became wary, hung up and contacted Comcast directly.

She then contacted her bank, who stopped all transactions and began creating new account numbers.

No money was stolen.

A report was filed.
