Bainbridge blotter | eBay finds religion

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 28

9:20 a.m. A 40-year-old Bainbridge Island man contacted police to report a recent online theft.

The man told police he’d ordered a Ride-On Hot Wheel’s Extreme Thrill Coaster, for $253.78, for his young son’s birthday through eBay.

Days later a package with appropriate tracking number arrived, but appeared much too small to hold the large toy. Inside, the man found instead a small white “My Little Bible.” He attempted to contact the seller, but got no response. He finally opened a complaint with eBay to get his money back, and it was they who instructed him to make a report with the police.

Police found 76 other complaints about the seller, several of which specified receiving a small white Bible instead of the item they’d purchased. They attempted to contact the seller, but got no response.

A report was filed.
