MONDAY, APRIL 18
4:09 p.m. An employee at the Town & Country Market called police after a 61-year-old Bremerton man was detained for shoplifting after he took three snack-sized pieces of cheese.
The man was identified by police but the store decided not to pursue a criminal complaint.
SATURDAY, APRIL 16
2:25 a.m. An officer followed a 2008 Audi north on Highway 305 that did not have its headlights on after it got off the ferry.
The driver did not turn the headlights on until he reached Vineyard Lane. As the police car caught up to the vehicle, the driver crossed the center double lines three times. The Audi crossed the center line eight more times between Vineyard Land and NE Koura Road.
Police stopped the vehicle and the driver, a 23-year-old Seattle man, smelled strongly of intoxicants and had bloodshot eyes.
The driver failed field sobriety tests. After he was read his rights, he asked to call his attorney or someone.
Once at the police station, he was allowed to make a call and he called his mother.
Breath tests resulted in readings of .124 and .122. The driver was booked for DUI into Kitsap County Jail and bail was set at $5,000.
