The German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Abzeichen für Leistungen im Truppendienst) is a decoration of the Bundeswehr, the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany. The decoration can be awarded to all German soldiers and Allied soldiers may also be awarded the badge. Any rank may be awarded and wear the badge. In the United States military, the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge is one of the few approved foreign awards, and it is one of the most sought after awards to achieve.

Testing is broken into two categories, basic fitness and military training.  Basic fitness consists of 11×10-meter sprints, a flexed-arm hang, and a 1,000-meter run. Military training is a 100-meter swim in uniform, a Combat Lifesaver written test, a mission oriented protective Posture 4 (military chemical protection gear) proficiency test, a 9mm pistol qualification and a road march of up to 7.5 miles.

The event is conducted over a two-day period.

Weldon, a 2013 graduate of Bainbridge High, is the son of Ben and Simone Weldon of Bainbridge Island.
