No-contact order for Sinclair Inlet rescinded

The no-contact order for Sinclair Inlet has already been rescinded.

The Navy has now said no domestic wastewater was discharged in the marine water.

Earlier, a no-contact order was issued through March 13 due to a 100,000-gallon sewage spill March 6 due to an overflow at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and intermediate maintenance facility.

The update says warning signs at public access points won’t be removed until March 11, however.

The Kitsap Public Health District order means people should avoid contact with the water in that area. If exposed, wash immediately with soap and clean water.
