Winslow shop among stops on Independent Bookstore Day

Independent Bookstore Day is Saturday, April 28, an annual national celebration of independent bookstores and the customers that support them.

In the Seattle region, 19 bookstores are set to celebrate together as partners, giving customers more ways to love local.

Visit all 19 and become a “Bookstore Champion,” including the prize of 25 percent off at all participating bookstores for a year.

If you visit just three, you’ll get a coupon for 30 percent off a purchase at any of the participating stores.

Bainbridge’s own Eagle Harbor Book Company will open at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, with muffins and coffee for the earliest guests.

Special Independent Bookstore Day merchandise will be in the front of the store, while supplies last.

Officials said they will have a free copy of Michael Diehl’s “Crossings: On the Ferries of Puget Sound” for customers who spend $49.99 or more, also while supplies last.

Throughout the day there will be a literary cupcake walk every hour on the hour, with prizes and a sweet for winners and there will also be a craft table set up in the children’s department with special prizes for younger readers.

And do you love audiobooks?

EHBC partner Libro.fm is giving away five free audiobooks Saturday. The first two customers to create an account with EHBC on Libro.fm on Independent Bookstore Day will receive a swag bag with a Libro.fm T-shirt, earbuds and other goodies.
