Theatre School fantasy continues

Between pirates and dragns, BPA Theatre School has had one magical summer. At 3:30 and 7 p.m. July 25, the fantasy continues with “Dragonsphere Chapter 2 – Trial of Ashes. ”

The Awakening (Chapter 1) introduced the planet’s survivors from a near-fatal asteroid impact and revealed how the nature of existence had been divided into four realms, each ruled by a powerful dragon. In Chapter 2 – Trial of Ashes, the war of the four dragons has thrust the world into chaos, and it’s up to a small band of humanity to save the planet or find a way to escape. Some of the dragons have united, and their strength is growing. Will the planet survive? Filled with dramatic characters, special effects, and magic, DragonSphere reveals a new world that ignites the stage with energy and excitement.

Tickets, $10, are at 842-8569.

Last weekend for Bloedel concerts

Bloedel Reserve wraps up its July concert series this weekend with two soulful performances.

At 7 p.m. Friday, Grammy nominee Jovino Santos Neto and vocalist Elspeth Savani will perform “Latin Soul,” a concert of Brazilian, Cuban and other Latin American music infused with jazz.

Following at 7 p.m. Saturday, the popular duo Gypsy Soul – vocalist and former Bainbridge Islander Cilette Swann and guitarist Roman Morykit – blend soft rock, traditional Celtic folk, and a bit of blues.

Swann’s vocal range and style has been compared to Stevie Nicks and Alison Krauss.

Admission for each concert is $32, which includes hors d’oeuvres and beverages, and of course, the pleasure of gorgeous music on the beautiful Bloedel grounds.
