Roll around in the Wintergrass

Four days, 200 locally and nationally recognized musicians, 30 bands and six stages – and a dedicated group of Bainbridge Islanders helping to pull it all together. It’s the 2009 Wintergrass Festival, on now through Feb. 22 in Tacoma. This weekend celebration of roots music, Americana, and all things “grass” includes concerts, workshops, jam sessions kids’ stuff and more. For a complete rundown, see www.wintergrass.com.

‘Five Years’ in the life of a couple

For one weekend only, Sound Theatre Company presents “The Last Five Years,” a sharp and poignant musical exploration of two young marrieds embarking on the rest of their lives.

Teresa Thuman directs; Jessica Low and Adam Somers star. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26 to March 1 at Bainbridge Performing Arts. For tickets, $20, see www.brownpapertickets.com.

Interfaith Music Festival soars again

Join congregations from Bainbridge and North Kitsap on Sunday for sacred and devotional music. It’s the seventh annual Interfaith Music Festival, on at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church.

At the end of the concert, all performers gather as one large, unified choir under the direction of Norma Edens of Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church, singing “Go Out With Joy” and “Peace Be With You.”

The concert is free and family friendly. See www.binkinterfaith.org.

You’d be nuts to miss young artists

“I love making art,” said seventh grader Amelia Keyser-Gibson, one of the young artists represented in this year’s Mixed Nuts exhibition at Bainbridge Arts andCrafts. There’s still time to see the show – part artist showcase, part educational experience. See www.bacart.org for more information.
