Bainbridge is kind of a weird place.
We’re just one medium-sized city in Kitsap County, technically, but, as everyone knows, we’re kind of our own little world out here. Separated from the rest of the county by a bridge and tribal lands on one side and isolated from the metropolitan mecca of Seattle by the chilly waters of the Sound and a ferry commute on the other, the trends, trials, tribulations and concerns of Bainbridge Islanders are a culture unto themselves.
And when you’re trekking through that quirky culture, as one would along any precarious path, it helps to have a guide. Someone who knows what a downtown tiddlywinks match in May means. A July street dance veteran. Someone who knows the difference between Lynwood and Lynnwood. Someone who digs bluegrass at Battle Point Park and knows how to find a parking spot in Winslow at lunchtime.
For nearly a century, the Review has striven to be such a guide.
And now, in keeping with our esteemed role as “The only newspaper in the world that cares about Bainbridge Island,” we are going rogue.
The Bainbridge Blab, the casual and conversational side of the Review, is up and running starting today.
