The Bainbridge Island Historical Museum is hosting a fascinating tour of the state capitol in Olympia guided by former Secretary of State and Bainbridge native Ralph Munro.

Having served five terms in Olympia, Munro has a broad knowledge of the elegant buildings, landmarks and memorials on the capitol’s campus.

Also, his grandfather was a Scottish stone carver that left his mark on the massive limestones that form the exterior of the capitol building.

Highlights of the visit will include the Governor’s Mansion, the Legislative Building, the Supreme Court and the Senate Chamber. Participants will meet with Bainbridge Islander and Supreme Court justice Charles Wiggens.

The all-day bus tour leaves from the historical museum at 8:15 a.m., returning at 5 p.m.

Tickets are $125 and include lunch, as well as refreshments at the end of the day at Munro’s ranch just outside Olympia.

Space is limited to 25 participants. For reservations, visit the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum, 215 Ericksen Ave. or call 206-842-2773.
