Island Center Hall hosts the annual sock hop and ice cream social on Saturday, July 9.

Dancers, get together for an evening of old-fashioned fun and frolic with a DJ mix of oldies and goldies. Dance to Swing, Foxtrot, Waltz, Blues, West Coast, Night Club Two-Step and Latin.

Dancers are invited to dress for the 1950s era. A Swing workshop mixer is from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m., followed by the dance to DJ music until

10 p.m. Requests and your own tunes welcome. The dance is for singles and couples; adults and teens. Bring your favorite ice cream and/or toppings to share.

Admission is $10 at the door, and there will be prizes for best costume and a dance contest.
