His large canvases, often portraits of women, are studies in light and dark. They are distinguished by dramatic contrasts – light or bright color against large areas of rich, dark background.

His new work continues his focus on portraits of women, sometimes with birds, but also includes landscapes with structures. Grosowsky’s paintings are on a grand scale, with canvases ranging from 48×48 inches and 60×36 to 48×60 in size.

Much of Grosowsky’s training was in printmaking, though his primary medium today is oil painting.

Grosowsky studied with the famous printmaker Mauricio Lasansky at the University of Iowa. He teaches painting, figure drawing and printmaking at Lane Community College in Eugene.
