Island Theatre has invited Kitsap County-based playwrights — both established and aspiring — to submit original plays, no more than 10 minutes in length, for consideration for the 2016 Island Theatre Ten-Minute Play Festival.

Each selected play will be performed three times between Aug. 19 and Aug. 20 — Friday evening, a Saturday matinée, and again on Saturday evening — at Bainbridge Performing Arts.

To help applicants jumpstart the play writing process, Island Theatre is hosting a two-hour “Improv for Play Writing Workshop,” led by veteran stage and screen performer Chris Soldevilla, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 at 9727 Coppertop Loop, Suite 202. Attending playwrights can gain new perspectives on creating captivating scenes, characters and dialogue.

Space is limited. Tickets, $25 each, are available through www.brownpapertickets.com.

Specific guidelines for play submissions can be found at www.islandtheatre.org or by calling 206-842-3502.
