Kitsap Audubon Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 for the program “The Mind of a Goshawk,” presented by Steve Layman.

Layman has had a nonstop intimate relationship with raptors since age of 12 and now finds himself with more than 50 years’ experience as a falconer, amateur biologist (graduated from Central Washington University), educator and rapture rehabilitator.

He will talk about goshawks, briefly seen fleeting through the forest or retreating upon approach and yet devastatingly dangerous should you enter their nest woods and linger around or attempt to scale their nest tree. What might their lives be like in between those two extremes out of sight?

Layman will bring two goshawks for the audience to see, ask questions and explore his insights and interpretations into their lives out of sight.
