Bainbridge-based documentary photographer and Review staffer Luciano Marano will unveil selected images from his ongoing true crime series, “Where Bad Things Happen,” in a special limited exhibition event from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 and from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6 at the Waterfront Park Community Center.

Each photo in the series depicts the scene of a deadly crime committed in the greater Seattle area, including incidents in Bremerton, Port Orchard and on Bainbridge.

“It’s the idea of these varied settings that got me started on the project,” Marano said. “Violence is not an inner city problem. It’s not a so-called bad neighborhood problem, but a society-wide issue.

“That’s what I hope the viewer takes away from these pictures.”

Locations featured in the series include Café Racer, Lake Sammamish State Park, Marysville Pilchuck High School and the Steele Creek Mobile Home Park, among others.

Marano is a multimedia documentarian and veteran reporter and photographer for the Review. Visit www.luciano-marano.com to learn more about his work.
