Last week, Bainbridge High varsity boys swim and dive coach Kaycee Taylor announced that he had cancer and would be stepping down from his head coach position. In the wake of the news, friends have banded together to create a GoFundMe page to raise financial support for Taylor and his family.
“While Kaycee and Sarah have health insurance and access to excellent care, managing the appointments and treatment will be a financial burden on the family,” the page reads. “There will be co-pays, maxed out deductibles and many ferry trips to Seattle… We’re hoping to provide critical financial support for Kaycee, Sarah and their daughters so that they can focus on the most important work at this time: getting Kaycee healthy again.”
In six days, the GoFundMe campaign has received 179 individual contributions amounting to nearly $15,000 for Taylor’s treatment, which is slated to begin at Swedish Medical Center on Monday.
