Fiddling champ to perform Saturday on Bainbridge

Fiddler Brandon Vance will join with multi-instrumentalist Mark Minkler in concert at Seabold Second Saturday on Saturday, June 13 at Seabold Hall.

Fiddler Brandon Vance will join with multi-instrumentalist Mark Minkler in concert at Seabold Second Saturday on Saturday, June 13 at Seabold Hall.

Vance is a two-time U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion — and the youngest to ever win the honor, at age 14 — and is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music.

He studied under renowned violinist Paul Kantor, and has performed with Scottish fiddlers Calum MacKinnon, Alasdair Fraser, Bonnie Rideout, Catriona MacDonald and Buddy MacMaster as well as four professional orchestras.

Seabold Second Saturday begins with open-mic performances at 7:30 p.m. (sign-ups are from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m.), followed by the featured act.

Admission is play or pay $5; children get in free. Coffee, tea, bottled water and cookies will be for sale.
