The 8th Annual Refashion Show took place May 15 at IslandWood.

The show focuses on upcycling and reusing textiles to encourage adopting a new wardrobe mindset: make apparel new to you without buying new. The event included a Runway Show, and a walk on IslandWood trails to check out the creativity of the artists and models.

There were three categories:

1. Upcycled Ready-to-wear: Outfits are made from used textiles or used clothing from any source.

2. Mystery Box: Designers will work with a box they received full of textiles and other types of apparel-related items.

3. Shop Your Closet: The goal is a materials budget of zero dollars. Artists use what they have or what friends have already in their closets, unused and unloved.

The event is organized by Refashion Bainbridge, a program of Sustainable Bainbridge. Refashion Bainbridge was born out of the need to educate the public on the environmental impact of clothing choices through workshops, fashion shows, conferences and web resources.
