Dual landscape exhibitions at BAC in April

Two geography-centric shows will line the walls at Bainbridge Arts & Crafts in April: “Lou Cabeen: Geography of Hope” and “Unearthing Landscape.”

Cabeen is a Seattle-based artist with Chicago roots who works in a variety of tactile media. Most recently, she has been pondering the relationship between art and cartography as she charts the emotional geographies of contemplation, belief and desire.

Painter Scott Allen and photographers Claudia Meyer-Newman and Kay Walsh are the stars of “Unearthing Landscape,” wherein, in honor of Earth Day, these three artists share their works in response to the global and local environmental issues of our time.

Both shows will be on display through April 23, and will kick off with a special artists’ reception event from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 7 during the First Friday Art Walk.
