Drive-through BI farm stands like a treasure hunt

There aren’t many drive-through options on Bainbridge Island, but a few small roadside farm stands offer a selection of items for adventurous shoppers.

You can pick up a few things when you are out and about if you need fresh eggs, flowers, zucchini or bread. Offerings vary depending on the day of the week and what’s in season, adding to the treasure hunt vibe of the overall experience.

At Wardwell Farm on Wardwell Road, a handwritten menu lists items of the day that include fresh eggs in an ice chest, flower bouquets in mason jars, and fragrant basil next to a collection box. There’s an overflowing basket of zucchini and squash. There isn’t a place to park, but stopping on the low-traffic road isn’t a problem.

The red stand at Finn Hollow Flowers on Madison Avenue has $5 bouquets on display in recycled bottles and vases with many payment options, including Venmo. If you’re riding your bike, there’s even a red chair to sit in under the umbrella on a hot day.

In the north end, the U-Cut Dahlias at BI Farms on Day Road fill rows of colorful flowers to view, photograph or pick. The old barn in the background is the perfect backdrop to sit beneath the trees at the picnic tables to take in the floral landscape and tree farm. There’s plenty of parking and plenty of payment options on the honor system.
