Bainbridge Performing Arts will host auditions from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 and Wednesday, Dec. 10 for the upcoming production of “Snow Falling On Cedars,” the lyrical saga adapted from David Guterson’s acclaimed story of mystery, love and identity.

The show will run March 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28 and 29 with a pay-what-you-can preview event on March 12.

Rehearsals will extend from Jan. 20 through March 5.

BPA is seeking one lead woman and two lead men, plus an ensemble of three to five women and six to eight men, ages 18 and up, to play multiple characters.

All roles are open to audition.

Those auditioning should prepare a monologue (1 to 2 minutes in length). A detailed character breakdown is available online.

This haunting production is directed by Kate Carruthers (“The Kentucky Cycle,” “Distracted,” “Private Eyes,” “Arcadia,” “The Grapes of Wrath,” “Picasso at the Lapin Agile,” “More Fun Than Bowling,” “Anton in Show Business,” “Art” and “The Philadelphia Story,” and more).

Against the backdrop of an America torn by World War II, cultures and communities clash when a Japanese American islander is accused of murder. The story deftly shifts from courtroom to strawberry fields to bloody battlefront, digging for hard truths buried in a forgotten history.

This special production is being produced by special arrangement with Book-It Repertory Theatre.

Auditions are by appointment only and interested parties are requested to email dhadlock@bainbridgeperformingarts.org to schedule an audition.
