Two Bainbridge Island-based photographers claimed prominent prizes at the recent ninth annual Washington State Juried Art Competition & Show at Collective Visions Gallery in Bremerton.

At least 16 island artists entered the contest, which reportedly received about 800 entries in various mediums from around the state. Of these, only 130 were chosen by this year’s official show juror to actually compete and be displayed at the Bremerton gallery.

Dinah Satterwhite’s image “Koi Klass” was purchased for $600 as part of the Kitsap County Arts Board Purchase Prize, as was Raymond Gendreau’s “Frank Focusing,” for $295.

Regular Bainbridge Island Studio Tour participant Sydni Sterling, of Indianola, had her image “Domenica,” a large two-panel acrylic painting, chosen for the prestigious Mayor’s Award for Best of Show, a $1,500 prize.
