Turnout for Bainbridge Island was hovering near 23 percent Friday for next Tuesday’s General Election.
So far, ballots have been returned by 4,206 voters on Bainbridge, according to the Kitsap County Elections Division.
There are 17,883 eligible voters on the island.
Kitsap County Elections Manager Kyle Joyce has projected turnout for the 2016 General Election to hit 45-50 percent countywide. Historically, Bainbridge Island voter turnout is typically higher than the county average.
In 2013, voter turnout countywide was 49.54 percent. On Bainbridge, it was 61.54 percent.
Kitsap election staff said their numbers overall are running about 5 percentage points lower than 2013. As of Friday, countywide ballot returns are at 19.24 percent.
Two years ago, ballot returns were at 24.13 percent on the same day.
Historically, most ballots are returned following the final weekend prior to Election Day.
