I work in the film business and typically work a 12-hour day. Recently I read that the destruction going on in Winslow might not be finished by the 4th of July.
That’s the biggest day on the island and the largest tourist draw around. Why?
It’s 2:45 p.m. on a Tuesday and the destruction crews are packing it up for the day. An eight-hour day. Why are they not working till at least 5 p.m.?
Those extra hours multiplied by 20 or 30 days would see a completion far earlier than the current unmet timetable allows and just might save our town and businesses from ruin.
Spend less on landscaping and more on man hours and this nightmare might end early. The city can’t afford the overtime? Find it.
The sooner this mostly unnecessary mess is over the sooner we might get some businesses into all the vacant spaces.
