Slow down and wait for others on the road | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

When driving on the two-lane roads all over the island, when there is a bicycle or a walker, runner, or dog walker in your lane, or someone out to retrieve their mail, you DO NOT SPEED UP into oncoming traffic to get around whatever is in your lane.

You STOP or creep behind until it is SAFE to pass.

Too many people stomp on the gas no matter if a head-on collision could be the result of their haste. Jeez, Louise. Wake up drivers, and think about driving instead of what you have to do, how late you are, or how urgent it is for you to send that next text message.
