Good Inslee article

To the editor:

The May 8th article, “Inslee moderates climate change debate at BI library”, was an excellent summary of how our former governor spoke primarily about his hopes and political concerns regarding our climate crisis going forward.

As I sat in the room, I felt the deep concerns among us for our futures, both environmentally and politically. The former governor spoke of his same concerns with both frustration, disparaging humor, and how he hoped to fight the current climate-denying administration.

I found his establishment of the U.S. Climate Alliance of 22 states plus two U.S. territories and a call for individual action, the most positive take-away from the event. Simply, if the federal government, under the current leadership, is not up to the race against this climate crisis, “United” States will accept the baton.

So my take-away from the event is….we have an elephant in the room, unwilling to wave the red flag. Instead, it keeps opening Pandora’s boxes, creating a Domino effect of ticking time bombs. To counter this house on fire and battle of wills, we need to perform a juggling act in this power struggle of a high-stakes game!
